The students will know the fundamental concepts and methods of quantum physics. The students will be able to describe elementary quantum physical phenomena in terms of wave functions and interpret experimental outcomes in terms of probability theory.

Course description:

• Key experiments for quantum phenomena.

• Wave functions, energy and momentum in position representation, SchrÅNodinger

equation.

• Eigenvalues, expectation value and uncertainty of observables.

• Transmission/reflection and tunneling.

• Stationary states, harmonic oscillator.

• Angular momentum quantization and spin.

• Bosons and fermions, electron gas.

• Basic effects of interactions and of finite temperature.
