Transnational non-governmental organizations (tNGOs) increasingly participate in discussions on global and transnational challenges through lobbying, campaigns, and advocacy efforts. While tNGOs have been a topic that researchers have been working on for quite some time, in the face of civil society restrictions there is much to learn about them. We will examine how these actors mobilise across borders, influence states and international organisations, and shape social change, while also asking critical questions about power, legitimacy, inequality, and accountability.
