Welcome everyone to the Project Course of From Ideation to Prototyping: Exploring Design Spaces for BCI-Enhanced Everyday Interactions
This project will require students to ideate, design, prototype and evaluate innovative everyday interactions powered by Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) technologies. Moving beyond clinical or entertainment uses, the project will focus on how BCI solutions can support meaningful experiences in everyday life in the areas of communication, accessibility, smart living, mental wellbeing, etc. Students will work in small groups to ideate use cases, conduct design workshops, design interfaces and possible solutions, create interactive prototypes and evaluate their solutions. The students will get the opportunity to use a consumer-grade BCI device called Emotiv Insight Headset 2.0. Each group will explore one design space, whether it’s helping users to communicate in a barrier-free environment, conduct daily tasks hands-free, regulate emotions, or support mental well-being.
