Whether it is remembered in a positive or negative way, the US-American Civil War serves as a point of remembrance which has been written from a multitude of angles. From the very outbreak of hostilities, and even during the decades of conflicts that led up them, different parties have etched their interpretations onto this military conflict and its significance for the history of the United States. In this seminar, we will analyze the different ways in which this war and its significance is written, remembered and inscribed in historic sources, historiography, literature and media.
