Whether it is remembered in a positive or negative way, the US-American
Civil War serves as a point of remembrance which has been written from a
multitude of angles. From the very outbreak of hostilities, and even
during the decades of conflicts that led up them, different parties have
etched their interpretations onto this military conflict and its
significance for the history of the United States. In this seminar, we
will analyze the different ways in which this war and its significance
is written, remembered and inscribed in historic sources,
historiography, literature and media.
