“Global Justice”: Who owes what to whom in a deeply unequal world? This seminar dives into the key debates in global justice, questioning the principles that shape our understanding of fairness beyond national borders. We will explore major methodological and normative frameworks—including methodological nationalism vs. cosmopolitanism and humanitarian law—and examine the role of individuals, states, and transnational institutions in shaping justice. Key topics include migration and borders, climate change and environmental justice, as well as theories of just war and post-bellum justice. Held every two weeks, this seminar combines theoretical exploration with critical discussions of case studies and key texts, offering students the tools to navigate and challenge global injustices.
