The seminar “The context of regional specific value systems and culture for Family Business and Mittelstand“ delivers two kinds of basic knowledge: a) regarding value and culture the students will learn about the measurement and operationalization as well as the differences and the overlaps between the two concepts and b) in parallel students will gain insights and knowledge regarding the concepts of Family Business and Mittelstand, the definitions, specifications and overlaps.

This basic knowledge will be transferred to the students in the first meetings via lectures and discussions. Based on this input and some readings the students will then work on their own on their seminar theses learning to write a scientific study (15 pages), related to their research question and search strategies gaining information (literature review, probably interview(s), text analysis of newspapers, journals, etc.).
