This is the third part of a four-semester lecture series that provides a survey of the key texts, genres, developments of North American literature. The survey offered in this part covers the time from Reconstruction to the Second Word War, with a focus on realist, naturalist, and modernist literature. The authors studied in this course include Mark Twain, Henry James, William Dean Howells, Theodore Dreiser, Kate Chopin, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Susan Glaspell, Eugene O’Neill, Ezra Pound, T.S.
