"A sad tale's best for winter". In this seminar we will attend to
Shakespeare's problem play The Winter's Tale to explore conceptions of
authorship and text production in the early modern period. The focus is
on historical approaches but we will also reflect on the legacy of
Shakespeare in the 21st century.
This seminar hinges on close reading in class; you must prepare sections of the text carefully prior to coming to class.
