This seminar focuses on the first few chapters of Käte Hamburger's /The
Logic of Literature/ as well as more formal approaches to narrative
fiction – for instance, game theory models such as those presented by
Michael Suk-Young Chwe in his /Jane Austen, Game Theorist/. We will read
several fictional and nonfictional narrative texts alongside
theoretical ones. While no knowledge of formal logic beyond High
School/"Abitur" level mathematics is required, participants must be
curious to experiment with the syntax and semantics of formal languages.
Before the beginning of the semester, participants must download, print
out, and read at least p. 5-36 of /forallx: An Introduction to Formal
