Election Day is Tuesday following the first Monday in November in any
given election year. In 2020, the election date is November 3, the first
day of our course according to the current lecture period. On Election
Day, voters in the states are not voting for the presidential candidate
himself, they are actually voting for a slate of electors, even though
the names of the electors themselves are not on the ballot in most
states. This is only but one of the unique aspects of the American
voting system this course will take a closer look at. Together we will
attend Election Night in a format yet to be discussed, learn about the
US election system, discuss the American presidency, and the prospective
politics of the presidential candidates.
